Commencement of the trial in the case of Šefik Alić, who is charged with War crimes against prisoners of war, has been scheduled for Friday, 11 May 2007, starting at 9.30am in courtroom 7.

The indictment alleges that, during an armed conflict on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the Republic of Croatia, in the capacity of Assistant Commander of the Hamza Battalion of the 5^th Corps of the Army of BiH, Šefik Alić, inter alia, participated in the physical and mental abuse of war prisoners, instigated their killings and failed to undertake measures to punish the perpetrators.
