Judgment delivered in Emin Behrović case

Acting upon the Indictment issued by the BiH Prosecutor's Office together with a sentencing warrant motion, at a public sentencing warrant hearing held on 12 March 2021 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered a judgment in the Emin Behrović case, finding the accused Emin Behrović guilty of the criminal offense of Giving a Gift or Other Forms of Benefit under Article 218(2) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH). The Court imposed on the accused a suspended sentence of one (1) year of imprisonment, while ordering that the imposed sentence shall not be executed unless the accused commits another criminal offense within two (2) years of the day when the judgment becomes final. The instrumentalities used for the commission of the criminal offense have been confiscated from the accused.

 

The accused Emin Behrović has been found guilty because he gave to an official person in the institutions of BiH, or a police officer with the BiH Border Police at the International Airport in Sarajevo, the amount of 80 EUR and 160 RSD in order to speed up the passport control for his acquaintance, citizen of Turkey, who at the time was on the official premises of the passport control for informative interview about the circumstances of his visit and stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
