Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals Visits The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Mr. Olufemi Elias, visited the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday. During the first part of the visit, at the working meeting, President of the Court of BiH, Mr. Ranko Debevec, together with the Head of Court’s Criminal Division, Judge Minka Kreho, and the Registrar for the Court of BiH, Ms. Emira Hodžić, welcomed Mr. Elias and discussed important aspects of cooperation between the two institutions, noting the significance of the high level of communication they have reached, especially in the sensitive area of witness protection.

 

In the framework of his visit to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Olufemi Elias held a lecture on the work of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, while the attending judges, prosecutors and professional staff of the Court, Prosecutor's Office and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council had the opportunity to address him, exchange opinions and experiences, and hear his views on the Residual Mechanism’s activities and operations.

 

Addressing the guests, Ms. Hodžić, Registrar for the Court of BiH, said that the ICTY has provided strong support to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina since its establishment, which has always been of huge importance. She underlined the significance of everything the ICTY has done for Bosnia and Herzegovina and voiced gratitude that the International Residual Mechanism now continues along the same path as ICTY’s legal successor.

 

At the end of the visit, it was concluded that the two institutions have had successful cooperation for years, remaining confident that the good cooperation will continue in the future.
