Judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 05.05.2008. to 12.09.2018.

Jasmina Kosović was born in Rogatica in 1948.  She graduated from the Law School in Sarajevo in 1976 and passed her bar exam in 1977.  She completed her internship at the Basic Court of Associated Labor in Sarajevo, whereupon she worked at the Court of Associated Labor of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a legal officer.  In 1983, she was appointed a judge of the Basic Court of Associated Labor in Sarajevo, and in 1993, a judge of the Municipal Court II in Sarajevo, where she also headed the Criminal Division.  In 2005, she was appointed a judge of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, where she was a member of the Appellate Criminal Panel in 2007-2008.  In 2008, she was appointed a judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina where she works in Section I for War Crimes.

Having taken part in many education programs in the country and abroad, and with the experience she gained as a juvenile judge working with children who had broken the law, she has actively contributed to the establishment of juvenile justice system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and through different activities to the promotion and protection of the rights of children involved in that system.  To that end she has lectured in schools and universities.  She initiated, participated in and coordinated multiple projects of research and analysis of the existing situation in this field and was the reference point for the drafting of strategic documents and a special juvenile criminal law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  She is one of the principal authors of the Law on the Protection and Treatment of Children and Juveniles in the Criminal Proceedings which the Entities and the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively adopted in the 2010-2014 period.  She authored multiple articles addressing the issue of children involved in criminal proceedings.  As a consultant and co-author she took part in the drafting of training manuals for judges, prosecutors, authorized official persons, social workers and journalists.  She has taken part in numerous national and international seminars on children’s rights and their protection under criminal law, as well as on other topics in criminal law and international law.  She is a certified lecturer of the Center for Education of Judges and Prosecutors of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a member of the International Association of Youth and Family Judges and Magistrates (IAYFJM).
