Plea hearing scheduled in the Krešo Lučić case

A plea hearing has been scheduled in the case of Krešo Lučić for 3 November 2006, starting at 2.30pm in courtroom 8. The accused is charged with the criminal offence of Crimes against humanity. This case is being processed before Section I for War Crimes of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment alleges that, during attacks aimed at the Bosniak civilian population in the municipalities of Kreševo, Kiseljak, Busovača and Vitez, Krešo Lučić, in the capacity of a commander of the Military police of the Croatian Defence Council in Kreševo, inter alia, committed and participated in the imprisonment and torture of civilians.

The indictment, inter alia, alleges that, in June and July 1993, at the headquarters of the Military police in Kreševo, the accused tortured prisoners of Bosniak ethnicity brought from the camp "Šunje" and allegedly ordered his subordinate police officers to do the same.
