21.12.2023, 14:01

On 21 December 2023 the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals conducted a workshop on the Court of BiH premises for the employees of the Legal Department of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The workshop was held by Ms. Emiliya Viktorova, IRMCT Senior Legal Officer, and Mr. Idaver Memedov, IRMCT Associate Legal Officer.

Based on the feedback and the previous meetings of relevant officials from the IRMCT and the Court of BiH, the IRMCT Chambers Legal Support Section has singled out two areas in which to transfer the best practices to the judicial staff at the Court of BiH: how to efficiently use the Case Law Database and other search tools to identify relevant jurisprudence of the ICTY and the IRMCT; as well as the methods to conduct research in the field of law and providing support to judges in cases related to war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

The preferred outcome is for the staff at the Court of BiH to be additionally trained in accessing relevant jurisprudence and the best practices of case management at the ICTY and the IRMCT that could facilitate the harmonization of case law and judicial procedures at the Court of BiH.
