The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is to announce on Thursday, 30 October 2025 at 11:00 hrs, in courtroom 5, a first instance judgment in the criminal case versus the accused Ramiz Duraković, charged with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilian Population under Article 142(1) of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia, as read with Article 30(2) of the same Code.
The accused Ramiz Duraković has been charged that, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and an armed conflict between the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the one side, and the Army of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the other side, he had acted in violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, in as much as he, as s superior officer in the capacity of the Commander of the 43rd Drinska Brigade of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the de facto and de iure control over members of the II and III Battalion of the 43rd Drinska Brigade, which had launched an attack on Čajniče, in the early morning hours of 14 February 1993 within an action of members of the IBOG, which also comprised the 43th Drinska Brigade, and an attack on the positions held by the Army of Republika Srpska on the Pisanica site, Čajniče municipality, as well as the village of Šapići, Čajniče municipality, where there were no military targets, on which occasion members of the III Battalion of the 43rd Drinska Brigade killed a civilian and set ablaze two houses in the village of Šapići, but despite having the information about the crime, as the Brigade Commander with powers to take the measures to make an inquiry concerning the circumstances of the crime commission in the Šapići village, Čajniče municipality, he failed to take the necessary and reasonable measures to punish the perpetrators of the crime.
