On 19 March 2026, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina pronounced a Trial Judgment in the case of Boro Ivanović, finding the accused Boro Ivanović guilty that by the acts described in the operative part of the Judgment he committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1)g) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as read with Article 180(1) of the Code.
The Court sentenced the accused to 10 years of imprisonment.
The accused Boro Ivanović was found guilty of committing multiple rapes of a Bosniak woman in the building known as the White Palace in Foča, in the manner described in detail in the operative part of the Judgment, in the period from mid-April 1992 to July 1992, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and during the armed conflict between the Army of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, subsequently the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) on the one side, and the Territorial Defense of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, subsequently the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) on the other, acting contrary to the rules of international law, violating the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War and Additional Protocol II to the Geneva Conventions relative to the Protection of Victims of Non-International Armed Conflicts, within the framework of a widespread and systematic attack launched by the VRS on the civilian Muslim population of the Foča municipality, knowing about the attack and that his actions formed part of the attack, as a member of the VRS VP 8078 - Foča, from May 1992 to late June 1992.
An appeal from the Judgment may be filed with the panel of the Appellate Division of the Court within 15 days of the date of receipt of the written copy of the Judgment.
After the Trial Judgment pronouncement, the Court issued a Decision extending the travel ban under Article 126(2) CPC BiH, imposed on the accused Boro Ivanović by an earlier decision of the Court dated 18 October 2024, in such a way that the accused is prohibited from traveling outside Bosnia and Herzegovina.
