On 23 June 2022, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina rendered a decision in Veljko Ugrenović et al. repealing the decision of the Court of B-H dated 18 February 2022 on ordering of a custody measure against suspect Jovica Grujić. Under the new decision of 23 June 2022, the Court ordered suspect Jovica Grujić into custody that may last no longer than one month as of the day of arrest, that is, from 22 June 2022 to 22 July 2022 or pending a new decision of the Court.
The custody was ordered because of the existence of special custody grounds under Article 132(1)(a), (b) and (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, the existence of a risk of flight, and of fear that he will destroy, conceal, alter or falsify evidence or clues important to the criminal proceedings, that he will influence witnesses, accessories and accomplices, and that he will repeat the criminal offense or complete the criminal offense.
With respect to the other suspects the decision of the Court of B-H of 18 February 2022 remains fully in force.
Veljko Ugrenović and other are suspected of having committed the criminal offense of Organized Crime under Article 250(2) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC B-H), as read with the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195(1) of the CC B-H, the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Arms and Military Equipment and Products of Dual Use under Article 193(1) of the CC B-H, the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 of the CC B-H, and the criminal offense of Aggravated Theft under Article 226(2) of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.
