Damir Kovačević, suspect in Damir Kovačević et al., ordered in custody

On 21 July 2023 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a Decision in the case of Damir Kovačević et al., ordering the suspect Damir Kovačević in custody following his arrest, which under the Decision may last for a maximum of one month, running from the day of arrest, which means until 20 August 2023 or pending a new decision of the Court, on particular custody grounds referred to in Article 132(1), Subparagraphs b) and c), of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a concern that he may destroy, conceal, alter or forge the evidence or traces important for the criminal proceeding, or if particular circumstances indicate that he might hinder the criminal proceedings by interfering with the witnesses, accomplices and accessories, and if particular circumstances warrant the concern that he may repeat the offense or complete the attempted offense or that he might commit the offense he has been threatening to commit, if those criminal offenses carry a sentence of three years of imprisonment or a heavier punishment.

The suspect is ordered in custody on grounded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of Accepting Reward or Other Forms of Benefit for Trading in Influence under Article 219, Paragraphs 1, 2 and 3, of the CC BiH, in conjunction with the criminal offense of Money Laundering under Article 209, Paragraphs 1 and 2, of the CC BiH.
