Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Mr. Ron Snipeliski visited the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday. The IMF representative met with the Court President Mr. Ranko Debevec, Head of the Criminal Division - Judge Minka Kreho, and the Court’s Registrar Ms. Emira Hodžić.

The productive meeting discussed the jurisdiction of the Court of BiH regarding corruption and anti-money laundering (AML), and the available statistical data.

Also discussed were basic elements and the status of the Draft Law on the Court of BiH, which the Court of BiH supports since it is in the best interest of strengthening the laws in the country. When the IMF representative inquired about the conflict of jurisdiction between the state-level and entity-level courts with regard to corruption cases, he was told that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina applies state-level laws, and that the competences of the Court of BiH have been defined clearly when it comes to corruption cases.

Particularly noted during the meeting was the importance of application of the highest professional standards, with the aim of promoting the rule of law.
