Legal Advisors of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Pay Study Visit to the European Court of Human Rights and Council of Europe Institutio

Legal advisors from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and legal advisors from the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina visited Strasbourg for a study visit to the European Court of Human Rights and Council of Europe institutions between 12 and 15 February 2018. The study visit was organized by “The Aire Centre“ London so the participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina could familiarize themselves with the operation of the European Court and human rights protection institutions of the Council of Europe.

 

The study visit included attendance of an open session of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Murtazaliyeva v. Russia, lectures on the operations of the European Court, and on the operations of the ECtHR’s Department for the Execution of Judgments, Committee for the Prevention of Torture, Office of the European Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Group of States against Corruption – GRECO.

 

The visit took place in the framework of the project implemented by the AIRE Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the British Embassy in Sarajevo, for the purpose of improving the implementation of ECHR standards in BiH and cooperation between the Court of BiH and the AIRE Centre. During the previous period seminars were organized for legal officers and advisors from highest courts in BiH concerning selected human rights protection topics, as well as cooperation through a series of other activities including the participation of the AIRE Centre in judicial colleges held by the Court of BiH.
