Samra Akova was born in 1973. She graduated from the Law School, University of Sarajevo, in 1999, completed her internship at the Municipal Prosecutor's Office in Kiseljak, after which she passed the bar exam in 2002. She was Deputy Public Attorney at the Kiseljak Municipality Public Attorney’s Office between 2002 and 2006, which is when she was appointed as a legal officer, and in January 2008 as an additional judge, at the Municipal Court in Kakanj. She was appointed a judge at the District Commercial Court in Istočno Sarajevo in 2010, and held that office until 2017, which is when she was appointed as an additional judge, and then in 2020 as a regular judge at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo. She was appointed a judge at the Court of BiH on 7 September 2023 and took office on 2 October 2023.

She took part in a number of seminars, symposia, and round tables, especially those that focused on commercial law. She was a member of a Working Group for Strategic Planning and Development of an Automated Case Management System in Courts and Offices of Prosecutors (CMS/TCMS), and a Working Group on the Improvement of Enforcement Procedure and Revision of Law on Enforcement Procedure in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
