(10.05.2006. 00:00)

At a continued hearing held today, a preliminary proceeding judge of Section I for War Crimes of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) ordered custody for 30 days for the individuals who are the subject of an indictment confirmed by the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY). The Court also ordered a 30 day deadline for the adaptation of the indictment by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to comply with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH.

Željko Mejakić, Momčilo Gruban, Dušan Fuštar and Duško Knežević were transferred yesterday to Bosnia and Herzegovina from the ICTY Detention Unit. This represents the third case referred to the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the ICTY pursuant to rule 11bis of the ICTY Rules of Procedure and Evidence.

The indictment charges these four individuals with confining in inhumane conditions, murdering, beating, sexually assaulting, harassing, humiliating and psychologically abusing non-Serbs in Omarska and Keraterm camps near Prijedor between May and August 1992.
