Appellate Panel pronounced the Verdict in the Mirko Pekez et al. case (06.05.2009. 11:49)On 5 May 2009 the Appellate Panel of Section I for War Crimes of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) pronounced the Verdict in the Mirko Pekez et al. case, by which the Accused Mirko (Špiro) Pekez and Milorad Savić were found guilty of the criminal offence of War Crimes against Civilians, specifically the Accused Pekez was found guilty of having participated as an accessory and the Accused Savić as a co-perpetrator in the perpetration of the criminal offense in question. In that regard, the Court sentenced the Accused Mirko (Špiro) Pekez to 14 years of imprisonment while the Accused Milorad Savić was sentenced to a long-term imprisonment of 21 years.
On 15 April 2008 the Trial Panel found Mirko (Špiro) Pekez, Mirko (Mile) Pekez and Milorad Savić guilty of War Crimes against Civilians, as co-perpetrators. Mirko (Mile) Pekez was sentenced to a long term imprisonment of 29 years, whereas Milorad Savić and Mirko (Špiro) Pekez were sentenced to a long term imprisonment of 21 years each.
The time the Accused spent in custody as of 1 November 2007 until the time the Accused are sent to serve the sentence shall be credited towards the pronounced sentence.
